SUMMARY:“The One Who Knows” A 7-Day Reflective Meditation Retreat led by Ven. Ajaan Jivako
DESCRIPTION:We live at a time when our mastery of the outside world increasingly grows. We are in constant contact with external input — from social media, careers, relationships, and an unprecedented ocean of global information. But there can be a cost – stress and overwhelm, lack of deep and meaningful connection, and a general sense of numbness or discontent. With all this outward focus, it becomes remarkably easy to overlook the quiet inner landscape where all of this is actually experienced. Touching into this inner world can mark a return to healthy and balanced states of happiness and well-being. What the Retreat Will Cover Drawing from the foundational teachings of the Buddha and inspired by the Thai Forest Tradition—particularly the direct simplicity of Ajahn Chah and Ajahn Sumedho’s practice of intuitive awareness—this retreat offers a practical, experiential framework for turning inward. Over seven days of noble silence, we will explore:\n● Distinguishing Content from Context: Recognizing the clear distinction between transient mental objects and the spacious, undisturbed Awareness in which they arise and dissolve.\n● Cultivating Buddho “The One Who Knows”: Developing a non-reactive, compassionate relationship with the mind. Rather than attempting to suppress thoughts or force stillness, we practice resting as the calm observer of our experience.\n● Sitting & Walking Meditation: Alternating sitting practice with mindful walking to cultivate a continuous thread of awareness through both stillness and movement.\n● Noble Silence & Digital Fasting: Limiting speech individually and collectively allows the mind to settle and creates a supportive retreat container. Stepping away from devices and digital noise directly serves to deepen the retreat experience.\n● Daily Guidance & Monastic Structure: Guided meditations, daily reflections, and Q&A sessions offer clear direction for practice. Morning and evening chanting, along with short readings, provide a taste of traditional Buddhist monastic structure.\nAbout the teacher:\nAjahn Jīvako was ordained in 2006 at Wat Nong Pah Pong, a monastery in Northeast Thailand originally established by Luang Por Chah. He lived and trained in various monasteries within Thailand for six years, then moved on to live at multiple Western branch monasteries in Australia and North America. Ajahn has had the opportunity to live and practice with many teachers and has been influenced by the teachings of Luang Por Chah, Luang Por Sumedho and Ajahn Amaro. Currently he is living at Amaravati Buddhist Monastery outside of London, UK.\nThis course will be conducted in English only.\nPlease note- “attendance in all sessions is mandatory.”\nFor queries, registration & accommodation, please email: info@deerpark.in ( mailto:info@deerpark.in )\n
